First Lieutenant Elyse Ping Medvigy is an active-duty Field Artillery officer currently assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. Following basic officer training, she spent one year serving as a Multiple Launch Rocket System platoon leader at Camp Casey, South Korea. After Korea, she immediately deployed to Afghanistan, serving as the first female fire support officer in the Army to deploy with a light infantry unit. After a nine-month deployment, she took the position of fire direction officer in a Howitzer unit at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Ping Medvigy was recently selected to be Army Special Operations Forces Civil Affairs officer. She is avid mountaineer with climbing experience at Denali as well as Aconcagua, Elbrus, Kilimanjaro, the Sierra Nevadas, Cascades, and multiple peaks across Europe and the Americas.
